Young people who have had a Stroke

I am going to do my documentary on young people who have had a Stroke, I have picked to do this topic because many people would think that a Stroke would affect more older people, where really many people do not know that a Stroke can actually affect anybody.

Not many people know what a Stroke is, so I am going to start off explaining what a Stroke is, for a start a stroke is an event which damages a part of the Brain, this can happen if any artery that feeds blood to the brain gets clogged, or if it tears or leaks. Strokes are sudden and have an immediate effect on a person, they can become:

  • Numb
  • Weak
  • paralysed on one side of the body
  • they could slur their speech
  • find it difficult to understand speech or even finding words.
  • Some people have lost their eye sight or have blurred vision
  • some can become confused or even unsteady
A Stroke can damage the mind and body and can effects people in different ways, depending on the part of the brain that is affected, how widespread the damage is and also how healthy the person was before they has a stroke, a stroke can damage:
  • How we feel and communicate
  • Our ability to learn
  • Bodily functions
  • Our thought processes

Symptoms

F: Facial weakness
A: Arm weakness
S: Speech problems
T: Time to call 999
